    -Drink Less Coffee – When it comes to depression, coffee isn’t an appropriate choice to start your day off with. Caffeine can be known to boost your mood, but when you’re coming off your caffeine fix, your mood with come crashing down into depression. Too much caffeine can affect the serotonin synthesis in your brain.

    -Drink Green Tea – Some green tea does include caffeine, but green tea has an extremely important constituent called L-theanine. L-theanine helps stop the crash and burn part of coming off a caffeine boost. Green tea has also shown to reduce stress and boost dopamine in the brain.

    -Meditate – Start meditation each day for about 2 to 3 minutes and work your way up to a longer time period. Meditation can help with depression, anxiety, OCD, etc.

    -Acupuncture – The acupuncturist uses 400 points to help release endorphins from the body, which in return makes you feel calm, happy and relaxed.

    -Drink Chamomile Tea – Depression and sleep go side by side. For some people with depression, it is hard to get out of bed in the morning and hard to fall asleep at night. Chamomile tea before bed can help you relax so you’re not as restless when you try to sleep.

    -See a Therapist – Going through times of depression can be challenging so seeing a therapist can help. It allows you to get some weight off your chest and provides some much-needed relief from your thoughts and emotions.

    -Try St. John’s Wort –St. John’s Wort can help for mild to moderate depression cases. It is thought to work for individuals because of the effect of hypericin that can be found in this herb. Always double-check with your herbalist to see if St. John’s Wort is safe to use with your current medication.

    -Vitamin B – In controlling mood, vitamin B produces chemicals like serotonin, dopamine, and epinephrine to the brain. These chemicals will play a very important role in your daily mood if taken on a regular basis.

    -Magnesium – The 4th most abundant mineral in the body, without Magnesium we wouldn’t produce energy, synthesize DNA, RNA, or regulate your heartbeat. We wouldn’t be able to keep the chemicals in our brain stable without Magnesium in our diets.

    -Exercise – It can release endorphins in our brain, which allows us to feel good and happy. Even a 15-minute walk can help with mood and depression.

    -Light Therapy – Dealing with the seasonal depression can be offset with light therapy. Light therapy helps elevate mood by activating the brain’s “circadian pacemaker” which regulates your sleep cycles.
